GM Rules

Separator image

GMS HAVE THE RIGHT TO REMOVE PROBLEM PLAYERS FROM AN EVENT. GMs also need to notify mods as well.

GM ruling is to be respected. If wrong, wait until AFTER an event to have a conversation with said GM about any mistakes with regards to the rules.

Game Masters (GMs) are story tellers and are not administrators, and should not perform administrative duties, nor decide disciplinary action, or be involved in anything moderator related.

GMs may use their own physical die to roll things, BUT MUST BE UPFRONT WITH PLAYERS.

Temp GMs

As well as following the rules for GMs  Temp Gms also Have to follow specific rules until they are approved for full time GM

Temp GMs do not get to use the GM HUD in order to dole out xp/coins, ect. This is to make sure there are no issues with said new GM before allowing the usage of the HUD (this applies to Temp GMs who only wish to do story for a set group of nerds too) to cut down on shenanigans.

Please submit who joined your event for xp/coin to be doled out. (Use usernames Only as anything with weird characters will make the HUD cry.

GMs may use their own physical die to roll things, BUT MUST BE UPFRONT WITH PLAYERS.

Moderator

Moderation should operate on a three strike basis. First offense is a private warning in IM coupled with a link to the rules or information that pertains to the broken rule. Second offense results in a temporary ban, along with the talk about the offensive action. Third offense is a permanent ban.

Moderation should always capture logs (screenshot logs, never copy and pasted), screenshots, or any other evidence in regards to an issue to have on record to refer to later.

A player always has the right to put forth their own side of what happened in any situation, providing logs (screenshot only), or any other evidence they have. Both sides of the story should always be collected and reviewed before action is taken. No exceptions.

Moderation should always communicate a case in the designated chat through Discord to prevent re-handling a case. Ex: a player asked two admins to approve something because the first admin told them no)

Moderation shall not moderate a scene they are involved in.  If you are involved in a scene, and there is an issue, refer to another admin or mod who is not involved in the scene to assist. (Exception being a situation that is disruptive enough to warrant breaking away from the scene immediately)

If a case arises and a member of moderation has already had a run in with the person(s) involved, moderation staff should try and pass it on to another member of that staff.

GMs may use their own physical die to roll things, BUT MUST BE UPFRONT WITH PLAYERS.

General Staff Rules

If and when an issue arises please note it in the appropriate chat for others to make note of to prevent staff shopping.

Staff should treat all players, and other staff members with respect, and act in an unbiased manner, providing no special treatment or favoritism to anyone, regardless of personal relationships or affiliations.

For more complex issues, a member of staff should seek out the assistance / opinion of another member, even so far as to call a meeting and resolve the issue if need be.

A staff member shall never engage in behavior that is seen as retaliation against another member of staff or a player for said person’s behavior or actions previously.

Staff should not engage publicly in overly flirtatious behavior with players.

Ex: Admin Bob sends this message in OOC group chat to new player ‘Stacy’: “Welcome to X Sim Hey your avatar is super sexy, I’d like to get to know her more.” (this is unprofessional, and more often than not, rubs the receiving party the wrong way)

All staff members (except for mentors) are not allowed to hold position of IC power (ex: guild / faction lead or second in command positions.) Running of businesses or shops are acceptable as long as the majority of holders are players and not members of staff.
